Australia has a well developed system of education with very high levels of secondary and tertiary, and some of the best private schools in the world. The responsibility of the school are divided between the state and territory and the federal government. The education system is divided roughly into five areas,

• School

• Public or private career / vocational

• Public or private college

In Australia, you generally what you pay for school. However, unlike other countries, there are some excellent (operating state) schools. So take a good look around and do your homework. Participation is mandatory in most states and territories until the age of fifteen, but most students are completing high school year 12 last year. In Australia, the system of education and school discipline is often seen as quite different from some other countries.
